Data Processing Terminal for Persons with Visual and Auditory Defects
Nippon Telesoft Co., Lid. Has developed a multiple-data processing terminal Multi-Braille that is Usable even in conjunction with the Internet System which enables data transmission and reception between persons with and without visual and auditory defects. This is a data processing system that enables persons with defective visual and auditory senses to converse freely with ordinary no defective persons through the braille system, and will be marketed primarily for use by regional autonomous entities, nursing facilities and schools.
This data processing terminal consists of a key display unit for displaying necessary data in braille which is employed together with a personal computer. The documents which are input by a sighted person with a personal computer is translated automatically into braille documents, and the keys of the manipulation apparatus are floated to permit readout by a person with defective visual and auditory senses. Whenever a disables person inputs Braille documents with a special-purpose keyboard, the document is converted into ordinary documents and displayed on a personal computer screen.
Connecting the terminal to a telephone circuit will enable electronic mail to be converted into braille messages. Achieving systematization by using systems such as the LAN system will permit the system to be utilized in the form of a conference room or a schoolroom by multiple disabled persons for the first time in English or in some other language. The compact and lightweight system can be carried about with case, also operable with ease. It is sold at a domestic price of \800,00(personal computer also needed).
